Skylight
120 SE Clay Street • Portland
Modern office space in the Central Eastside, filled with an abundance of art, natural light, and inspiration.
Breathe Deeply
A light-filled atrium welcomes tenants and visitors into an open lobby perfect for meeting clients, connecting with colleagues, or catching up on a good book. A sky bridge spans across the dramatic three-story lobby to create fluid connections throughout the building. Skylight was designed to energize, both mind and spirit. Details like the dramatic tall ceilings and beautiful glass walls are perfectly aligned with the lofty ambitions of our tenants and community.
Inspiration Inside and Out
Drawing inspiration from the adjacent graffitied walls at Nova, Skylight has some pretty striking art of its own. Murals flow throughout the common spaces, including the restrooms, parking lot, and lobby. The most striking art piece is the one-of-a-kind, hand-blown glass art installation in the lobby that was designed and manufactured by Andi Kovel of Esque Studio.
Built-in Flexibility
When we designed Skylight, we purposely stayed away from one-size-fits-all thinking. We worked with our main tenant, Simple, to seamlessly expand and grow their workspace in a thoughtful and strategic way. Together, we developed a long-term, multi-phase partnership that could be realized in tandem with their projected business growth. As their business and their needs grew, their space grew too–in all the right ways.
Truly Workable Workspace
Our partnership with Simple extended into some pretty revolutionary modern workplace design concepts. Skylight was one of the first buildings in the city to have gender-neutral restrooms, rooms for dog owners to work with their pets, and ample light-filled spaces to find quiet time and enjoy the natural light. This modern workspace is a far cry from the traditional cubicle farm model and it has proven to work wonderfully. We set out to build a space where people feel comfortable to be themselves and free to be creative–and we think we achieved that with Skylight.
Light and Airy
Look up and you may never want to look back down. Heavy timber, high ceilings, and generous windows make Skylight an inspiring place to work. Two central atriums bring ample daylight into every corner of the space, showering all employees with great, natural light.
Bird’s Eye Views
A large, vegetated roof deck gives tenants elevated glimpses of Mt Hood in the distance and provides low-key gathering spaces for employees to relax and enjoy each other’s company. The views to the east are especially enjoyable.
